Picture it: Aubrey and Mary Lyn were in the playroom while I was making dinner. Aubrey had just picked up all her toys. She had spent 10 minutes arranging some blocks on a wooden train near Mary Lyn.
I hear Aubrey singing and talking about her wedding and Mary Lyn happily screaming/shouting.
Then Aubrey said the cutest thing:
A: Ewww. Mary Lyn! (she saids her name in a very exaggerated, annoying way) You're not supposed to do that. MAMA! Babies aren't supposed to take apart trains. They are supposed to do other stuff."
Me: "What other stuff are babies supposed to do?"
A: "You know, roll over and stuff. Not take stuff apart."
5 minutes later..
A: "Here Mary Lyn. I have a job for you. Instead of taking apart my toys, you can just look after this baby. (she gives her my old baby doll Tori) Because she is a baby just like you."
Mary Lyn starts to cry because Aubrey leaves the playroom
A: "Mary Lyn! (in her exaggerated tone again) You're not doing your job of looking after your baby! Mama....."
